We ’ve seen a raft of streaming services apply announcement- supported categories on their platforms in the last couple of times. Now, Amazon has revealed that it'll offer advertisements in Prime Video as well.
- Amazon has announced that advertisements are coming to Prime Video.
- Ads will come to several countries from early next year.
- US subscribers can pay an extra $2.99 a month for an ad-free Prime Video plan.
The company blazoned the move on its website, attesting that “ limited announcements ” will come to Prime Video pictures and television shows from early 2024. Amazon cited the need for advertisements in order to “ continue investing in compelling content and keep adding that investment over a long period of time. ” Of course, Amazon has a request cap of over$1.3 trillion.
“ We aim to have meaningfully smaller advertisements than direct television and other streaming television providers, ” Amazon claimed, although we ’ll have to stay until coming time to see whether that claim holds water.
Advertisements will come to Prime Video druggies in Canada, Germany, the UK, and the US first. This will be followed by druggies in Australia, France, Italy, Mexico, and Spain latterly in 2024.
Amazon also sought to spin the advertisement by saying there would n’t be any price increases in 2024. But the establishment added that it would be offering an announcement-free league in the US for an redundant$2.99 a month. This league will also be available in other countries, with pricing to follow. Either way, Amazon is joining a raft of streaming platforms that now offer an announcement- supported paid league. This includes Netflix, Max, and Disney Plus.
